Пользовательское соглашение eDarling

Настоящие условия заключения сделок определяют условия, на которых производится использование сервиса eDarling. ru, предлагаемого компанией Affinitas GmbH, Kohlfurter Straße 41/43, 10999 Berlin (далее именуемого "eDarling").

Клиент — физическое лицо, пользователь сайта eDarling. Регистрация пользователя eDarling означает согласие с условиями Пользовательского соглашения и Конфиденциальности .

Для всех клиентов eDarling действуют исключительно настоящее Пользовательское соглашение. Иные условия заключения сделок не принимаются.

1. Оказываемые услуги

1.1. eDarling управляет службой знакомств в интернете и предоставляет клиенту бесплатные и платные сервисы. Клиент получает доступ к базе данных eDarling, которая содержит профили и информацию о других клиентах.

1.2. Все клиенты могут бесплатно зарегистрироваться, один раз пройти личностный тест, создать свой профиль и управлять им, а также получают индивидуальные списки потенциальных партнеров (бесплатный «Базовый аккаунт»).

1.3. Клиенты также имеют возможность зарегистрироваться в качестве платного пользователя («Премиум аккаунт» и «Премиум-Плюс аккаунт»). Перед приобретением платного аккаунта клиент информируется о конкретном платном сервисе и об условиях оплаты. Платежное обязательство возникает только после того, как клиент посредством «клика мыши» (или иного аналогичного действия) подтверждает заказ платного аккаунта и возникающие в указанной связи обязательства по оплате.

1.4. eDarling имеет право наделить третьи лица полномочиями по частичному или полному оказанию услуг. Однако это не должно создавать каких-либо неудобств для клиентов.

1.5. eDarling не может гарантировать успешного содействия в установлении контакта с предложенными кандидатами для знакомства. Поэтому eDarling не несет ответственности, если в течение срока действия договора не будет установлен ни один контакт. Это условие не применяется, если определенные платные аккаунты предусматривают «гарантию контакта». Если согласована гарантия контакта, к ней применяются следующие особые условия: при шестимесячном сроке действия гарантируется не менее 10, при двенадцатимесячном сроке действия – не менее 20 контактов. Под контактом понимается любое отправленное Вами или другим пользователем самостоятельно составленное сообщение, которое Вы отправляете другому пользователю или получаете в ответ на отправленную улыбку, отправленный вопрос или отправленное сообщение. Действие гарантии продлевается при условии, что Вы в течение шестимесячного срока владения аккаунтом отправили не менее 4, либо в течение двенадцатимесячного срока владения аккаунтом – не менее 8 вопросов в форме самостоятельно сформулированного свободного текстового сообщения, что Вы полно и содержательно заполнили страницы «Мой профиль» и «Мой поиск», что вы поставили не менее одной фотографии профиля, что Вы обладаете платным аккаунтом и что Вы регулярно заходили на свой профиль, а также что Вы не позднее 14 дней начала действия Вашего срока для расторжения договора сообщили по адресу электронной почты support@edarling. ru, что воспользуетесь гарантией eDarling. В случае наличия всех указанных предпосылок Вы имеете право на бесплатное продление Вашего Премиум аккаунта на согласованный срок действия договора.

1.6. eDarling ограничит доступ к данным клиентов, о неправильности или запрещающих действиях (см п. 7.7) которых станет известно eDarling; при этом eDarling не отвечает за корректность данных других клиентов и не может гарантировать их правильность.

1.7. eDarling гарантирует доступность сервиса в течение 95% календарного года. В указанный объем не включаются остановки сервиса не по вине eDarling, например, в случае необходимых сервисных работ или вследствие непреодолимой силы или технических неполадок интернета.

1.8. Для полноценной работы сайта необходимо использовать последнюю версию браузера с поддержкой Java Script и cookie-файлов. При использовании устаревшего программного обеспечения функционал сайта eDarling как в рамках бесплатного, так и платного аккаунта может быть ограничен.

2. Доступ / Заключение договора

2.1. Доступ к использованию сервисов eDarling подразумевает регистрацию. Для регистрации клиенту требуется адрес электронной почты и самостоятельно выбранный пароль.

2.2. Условием регистрации является совершеннолетие клиента.

2.3. При регистрации посредством ввода действительного адреса электронной почты и самостоятельно выбранного пароля Клиент вступает в договорные отношения с eDarling, которые регулируются настоящим Пользовательским соглашением и условиями Конфиденциальности. После регистрации Клиент получает на указанный при регистрации адрес уведомление от eDarling с подтверждением вступления в договорные отношения в рамках бесплатного аккаунта.

2.4. При заказе платного аккаунта зарегистрированный клиент дополнительно к бесплатному аккаунту входит в дальнейшее договорное отношение с eDarling. Договорное отношение возникает только после подтверждения заказа со стороны eDarling.

2.5. Клиент гарантирует eDarling, что его данные, введенные при регистрации или при заказе, соответствуют действительности.

3. Условия оплаты

3.1. Внесение платы должно быть заранее произведено клиентом eDarling за выбранный период без каких-либо удержаний. Платежи клиентов всегда сначала засчитываются в уплату процентов, пеней и прежней задолженности, даже при ином указании цели платежа клиентом (§ 367 ГГУ).

3.2. Посредством приобретения платного аккаунта и указания платежной информации клиент наделяет eDarling правом осуществления платежной операции.

4. Использование и передача данных

4.1. eDarling обязуется соблюдать требования законодательства о защите персональных данных, в частности немецкое и европейское законодательство.

4.2. Вы найдете информацию об использовании персональных данных сервисом eDarling в Условиях Конфиденциальности .

5. Аннулирование регистрации, автоматическое продление, расторжение договора

5.1. Аннулирование бесплатной регистрации (удаление профиля) клиентом возможно в любое время.

5.2. При удалении платного аккаунта оставшиеся средства не возмещаются.

5.3. Договор о платном аккаунте, оплаченный банковской картой или платежной системой paypal, продлевается автоматически на согласованный срок действия договора, если клиент не объявит о расторжении договора в течение действия срока для расторжения договора (cм. п. 5.4) до истечения срока действия договора. При автоматическом продлении договора, списание суммы за согласованный срок договора осуществляется автоматически.

5.4. Срок для расторжения договора истекает за 14 дней до конца оплаченного срока договора. Таким образом, отменить продление можно в любое время, но не позже, чем за 15 дней до конца текущего договора.

5.5. Отказ от платного аккаунта является действительным только в том случае, если он четко изъявлен в письменной форме.

5.6. При письменном расторжении договора для четкой аутентификации и для защиты от злоупотреблений необходимо, чтобы клиент указал в своем заявлении о расторжении договора свой адрес электронной почты, который он предоставил eDarling, либо вновь указал код безопасности. Письменное заявление о расторжении договора должно быть направлено по электронной почте на cancelpremium@edarling. ru. Подробности приведены в статье об отказе от продления Премиум абонемента.

5.7. После окончания действия платного аккаунта статусом клиента автоматически становится бесплатный аккаунт, с вытекающими отсюда ограниченными возможностями пользования.

5.8. Право обеих сторон на внеочередное расторжение договора как на Базовый аккаунт, так и на платный аккаунт, остается нетронутым. eDarling имеет, в частности, основание для внеочередного расторжения, если клиент при регистрации или при заказе и/или последующем изменении своих данных умышленно указал неверные сведения, или неоднократно нарушил настоящее Пользовательское соглашение и eDarling безрезультатно предупредил клиента о необходимости соблюдения Общих условий заключения сделок (предупреждение).

6. Ответственность eDarling

6.1. eDarling несет ответственность в рамках договора в целом только за ущерб клиента, (1) который был нанесен eDarling или его законными представителями умышленно или с грубой неосторожностью, (2) вытекающий из вреда жизни, телу или здоровью, который произошел вследствие нарушения обязанностей eDarling или его законных представителей или третьих лиц, привлеченных eDarling для исполнения его обязанностей и (3) который возник в результате нарушения обязанности, исполнение которой является обязательной предпосылкой для надлежащего исполнения договора, и на соблюдение которой клиент, как правило, рассчитывает или имеет право рассчитывать (важнейшая обязанность).

6.2. eDarling несет ответственность в случаях, указанных в п. (1) и (2) ч. 1 ст. 6, в неограниченном размере. В остальном требование о возмещении вреда ограничивается размером предвидимого, характерного для договора ущерба.

6.3. В иных случаях, чем названных в ч. 1 ст. 6 случаях (1) и (2), ответственность eDarling – независимо от правового основания – полностью исключена.

6.4. Вышеназванные ограничения ответственности применяются соответствующим образом ко всем органам, работникам и привлеченным к исполнению третьим лицам eDarling.

7. Сфера ответственности и обязанности клиента / запрещенные действия / освобождение

7.1. Клиент отвечает за содержание своей регистрации и тем самым за информацию, которую он предоставляет о себе.

7.2. Клиент гарантирует, что введенные данные соответствуют действительности и описывают его лично. Стороны договора согласны с тем, что eDarling имеет право проверять введенные данные на их правильность.

7.3. Клиент гарантирует, что использует сервис eDarling исключительно для поиска серьезных отношений, не состоит в браке и не имеет постоянного партнера на момент регистрации на сайте eDarling.

7.4. Клиент гарантирует, что он не преследует никаких профессиональных и (или) предпринимательских целей в связи с его регистрацией. Он обязуется не использовать контактный портал в профессиональных или предпринимательских целях (см. ниже ч. 8).

7.5. Клиент гарантирует, что в рамках предложений и сервисов eDarling он не загружает фотографии, тексты, компьютерные программы или иную информацию, защищенную авторским правом, без наличия необходимых для этого прав или согласий.

7.6. Клиент обязуется соблюдать все применимое законодательство при регистрации и использовании контактного портала.

7.7. Клиент не имеет, в частности, права ни при каких обстоятельствах (запрещенные действия):

• умышленно выдавать данные третьих лиц (включая адрес электронной почты) за свои собственные данные. В частности он не имеет права указывать банковские реквизиты или данные банковских третьих лиц;

• открывать доступ к персональной информации, в частности к именам, номерам телефона и факса, почтовым адресам, адресам электронной почты, файлам фотографий и видеозаписей и (или) URL-адресам без согласия управомоченных третьих лиц;

• распространять порочащие, неприличные или иные противоправные материалы или подобную информацию;

• угрожать иным лицам, нарушать покой иных лиц или нарушать права (включая личные права) третьих лиц;

• загружать данные, содержащие вирусы (инфицированные компьютерные программы);

• использовать сервис таким образом, который неблагоприятно влияет на доступность предложений иным клиентам;

• перехватывать электронные письма или пытаться их перехватить;

• распространять рекламу других служб знакомств;

• отправлять цепочки писем;

• в личном описании (профиле) указывать имена, адреса, номера телефонов и факсов, адреса электронной почты, имена пользователя или иные контактные данные из систем обмена сообщениями или прочих интернет-сервисов;

• передавать третьим лицам или совместно с третьими лицами использовать имена пользователей и личные пароли.

7.8. Недопустимым использованием в профессиональных или предпринимательских целях по смыслу настоящей нормы является:

• предложение любых товаров или услуг за плату, призыв к даче соответствующей оферты или ссылка на соответствующую оферту, доступную в другом месте;

• рекламирование коммерческих интернет-сайтов, т. е. в частности, таких сайтов, посредством которых предлагаются товары или услуги за плату, которые служат представлению или рекламе предприятий или рекламируют иные коммерческие интернет-сайты. Это касается, в частности, рекламы в форме всплывающих окон, баннерной рекламы или особенно выделяющихся или заметных ссылок;

• создание ссылок (прямое или непрямое) на контактный портал иного сервиса;

• указание номеров дополнительных специальных услуг в области коммуникации (в частности телефонных номеров, начинающихся с 800 ) или номеров для смс с дополнительной стоимостью (премиум-смс) в рамках настоящего сайта знакомств;

• установление контакта для целей последующего получения прибыли, в частности, посредством последующего указания на номера для смс с дополнительной стоимостью или на телефонные номера, начинающиеся с 800.

• поиск работников, моделей и т. п. для агентств или коммерческих организаций сферы услуг;

• коммерческий сбор данных профилей, доступных в рамках контактного портала, или запрос данных (например, номеров телефона / мобильного телефона) у других клиентов, например с целью коммерческого использования, рекламы или перепродажи;

• отправка другим клиентам сервиса или иным клиентам рекламы в любой форме, касающейся коммерческих предложений, и отправка сообщений, служащих коммерческим целям. Это касается, в частности, установления и указания соответствующих ссылок в профилях данных или отправки сообщений посредством внутренней системы коммуникации.

7.9. Клиент обязуется не причинять eDarling убытков какими-либо видами жалоб, убытков, потерь или требований, которые могут возникнуть в результате его регистрации и (или) участия в данном сервисе, если данные убытки не основываются на умысле или неосторожности eDarling или его законных представителей или привлеченных им третьих лиц. В особенности, клиент обязуется освободить eDarling от любой ответственности и от всех обязательств, затрат и требований, которые могут возникнуть в отношении eDarling в результате неразрешенных действий клиента, например, вследствие клеветы, оскорбления, нарушения личных прав, нарушения интеллектуальной собственности или иных прав третьих лиц или отказа сервиса для других клиентов.

8. Блокирование подозрительных клиентов

8.1. eDarling имеет право в случае обоснованной жалобы третьего лица, подозрения в нарушении права или нарушении настоящего Пользовательского соглашения заблокировать сведения клиента, которые повлекли за собой указанную жалобу или указанное подозрение. Право внеочередного расторжения договора (ч. 8 ст. 5) не затрагивается вышестоящим положением.

8.2. Если предварительное предупреждение является приемлемым для eDarling, для блокировки необходимо предварительное предупреждение eDarling, чтобы дать клиенту возможность рассеять подозрения или устранить недостатки. Если предварительное предупреждение не является приемлемым, например, если блокировка является необходимой для того, чтобы предотвратить возможные убытки eDarling или другого клиента, eDarling проинформирует клиента незамедлительно после осуществления блокировки и даст ему возможность высказать свою позицию и устранить недостатки.

8.3. eDarling может в любое время удалить или заблокировать сведения, если этого потребуют от eDarling суд или органы государственной власти или если отношения пользования были прекращены. То же самое распространяется на случаи, в которых удаление или блокирование являются необходимыми, чтобы предотвратить грозящие убытки eDarling или другого клиента.

8.4. Обязанность клиента по уплате согласованного в договорном порядке вознаграждения в рамках платного аккаунта не затрагивается блокировкой сведений. Если доступ клиента к услугам платного аккаунта был заблокирован и впоследствии выяснится, что блокировка была неоправданной, срок действия Премиум аккаунта продлевается соответствующим образом. Если продление невозможно или объективно неприемлемо, eDarling возмещает вознаграждение, соответствующее периоду блокировки.

9. Изменения Общих условий заключения сделок

eDarling сохраняет за собой право изменить настоящее Пользовательское соглашение с применением обратной силы. В данном случае eDarling заранее сообщит всем зарегистрированным клиентам об изменениях. Изменения считаются принятыми, если клиент не заявит возражений в течение четырех недель после сообщения об изменениях. Если клиент возражает какому-либо изменению, eDarling имеет право расторгнуть отношения пользования на основании общих правил Пользовательского соглашения.

10. Расторжение соглашения

10.1. Волеизъявление на заключение договора может быть отозвано в течение двух недель без указания причин в письменной форме на e-mail cancelpremium@edarling. ru. Срок начинает течь с момента получения настоящего разъяснения, но не до заключения договора и не до исполнения информационных обязанностей eDarling. Своевременная отправка является достаточной для соблюдения срока на отзыв волеизъявления

10.2. В случае действенного отзыва полученные услуги и преимущества (например, проценты) с обеих сторон должны быть возвращены. Если полученная услуга полностью или частично не может быть возвращена или может быть возвращена только в худшем состоянии, необходимо произвести возмещение стоимости. Это может повлечь за собой обязанность выполнения договорных обязательств по уплате на период до осуществления отзыва. Обязательства по возмещению платежей должны быть исполнены в течение 30 дней. Срок начинает течь для клиента с момента отправки отзыва волеизъявления, для eDarling с момента получения отзыва.

10.3. Право на отзыв волеизъявления досрочно утрачивается, если договор по Вашему прямому желанию полностью исполнен с обеих сторон до того, как Вы воспользовались своим правом на отзыв.

11. Заключительные положения

11.1. Применяется немецкое право; применение Конвенции ООН о договорах международной купли-продажи товаров (Венская конвенция 1980 года) исключено.

11.2. Местом исполнения и исключительным местом рассмотрения споров является адрес/место нахождения компании Affinitas GmbH, если иное не предусмотрено законодательством.

11.3. Устные или письменные дополнительные соглашения отсутствуют.

11.4. Если отдельные положения настоящего соглашения являются или станут недействительными, остальные положения договора остаются действительными.

Dating is a part of human mating process whereby two people meet socially for companionship. beyond the level of friendship. or with the aim of each assessing the other's suitability as a partner in an intimate relationship or marriage. It can be a form of courtship consisting of social activities done by the couple. While the term has several meanings, it usually refers to the act of meeting and engaging in some mutually agreed upon social activity in public, together, as a couple.

Dating as an institution is a relatively recent phenomenon which has mainly emerged in the last few centuries. From the standpoint of anthropology and sociology. dating is linked with other institutions such as marriage and the family which have also been changing rapidly and which have been subject to many forces, including advances in technology and medicine. As humans have evolved from hunter-gatherers into civilized societies and more recently into modern societies, there have been substantial changes in the relationship between men and women, with perhaps the only biological constant being that both adult women and men must have sexual intercourse for human procreation to happen. [ 3 ]

Humans have been compared to other species in terms of sexual behavior. Neurobiologist Robert Sapolsky constructed a reproductive spectrum with opposite poles being tournament species. in which males compete fiercely for reproductive privileges with females, and pair bond arrangements, in which a male and female will bond for life. [ 4 ] According to Sapolsky, humans are somewhat in the middle of this spectrum, in the sense that humans form pair bonds, but there is the possibility of cheating or changing partners. [ 4 ] These species-particular behavior patterns provide a context for aspects of human reproduction. including dating. However, one particularity of the human species is that pair bonds are often formed without necessarily having the intention of reproduction. In modern times, emphasis on the institution of marriage, generally described as a male-female bond, has obscured pair bonds formed by same-sex and transsexual couples, and that many heterosexual couples also bond for life without offspring, or that often pairs that do have offspring separate. Thus, the concept of marriage is changing widely in many countries.

Historically, marriages in most societies were arranged by parents and older relatives with the goal not being love but legacy and "economic stability and political alliances", according to anthropologists. [ 5 ] Accordingly, there was little need for a temporary trial period such as dating before a permanent community-recognized union was formed between a man and a woman. While pair-bonds of varying forms were recognized by most societies as acceptable social arrangements, marriage was reserved for heterosexual pairings and had a transactional nature, where wives were in many cases a form of property being exchanged between father and husband, and who would have to serve the function of reproduction. Communities exerted pressure on people to form pair-bonds in places such as Europe ; in China. according to sociologist Tang Can, society "demanded people get married before having a sexual relationship" [ 6 ] and many societies found that some formally recognized bond between a man and a woman was the best way of rearing and educating children as well as helping to avoid conflicts and misunderstandings regarding competition for mates.

Corals are marine invertebrates in the class Anthozoa of phylum Cnidaria. They typically live in compact colonies of many identical individual polyps. The group includes the important reef builders that inhabit tropical oceans and secrete calcium carbonate to form a hard skeleton.

A coral "head" is a colony of myriad genetically identical polyps. Each polyp is a spineless animal typically only a few millimeters in diameter and a few centimeters in length. A set of tentacles surround a central mouth opening. An exoskeleton is excreted near the base. Over many generations, the colony thus creates a large skeleton that is characteristic of the species. Individual heads grow by asexual reproduction of polyps. Corals also breed sexually by spawning: polyps of the same species release gametes simultaneously over a period of one to several nights around a full moon .

Although some corals can catch small fish and plankton. using stinging cells on their tentacles, like those in sea anemone and jellyfish. most corals obtain the majority of their energy and nutrients from photosynthetic unicellular algae that live within the coral's tissue called zooxanthella (also known as Symbiodinium). Such corals require sunlight and grow in clear, shallow water, typically at depths shallower than 60 metres (200 ft). Corals can be major contributors to the physical structure of the coral reefs that develop in tropical and subtropical waters, such as the enormous Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Queensland. Australia. Other corals do not have associated algae and can live in much deeper water, with the cold-water genus Lophelia surviving as deep as 3,000 metres (9,800 ft). [ 3 ] Examples live on the Darwin Mounds. north-west of Cape Wrath. Scotland. Corals have also been found off the coast of the U. S. in Washington State and the Aleutian Islands in Alaska.

Radiocarbon dating is a method of determining the age of an object by using the properties of radiocarbon. a radioactive isotope of carbon. The method was invented by Willard Libby in the late 1940s and soon became a standard tool for archaeologists. It depends on the fact that radiocarbon, often abbreviated as 14

C. is constantly being created in the atmosphere by the interaction of cosmic rays with atmospheric nitrogen. The resulting radiocarbon combines with atmospheric oxygen to form radioactive carbon dioxide. This is then incorporated into plants by photosynthesis. and animals acquire 14

C by eating the plants. When the animal or plant dies, it stops exchanging carbon with its environment, and from that point the amount of 14

C it contains begins to reduce as the 14

C undergoes radioactive decay. Measuring the amount of 14

C in a sample from a dead plant or animal such as piece of old wood or a fragment of bone provides information that can be used to calculate when the animal or plant died. The oldest dates that can be reliably measured by radiocarbon dating are around 50,000 years ago, though special preparation methods occasionally permit dating of older samples.

While the idea behind radiocarbon dating is straightforward, years of additional work were required to develop the technique to the point where accurate dates could be obtained. Research has been going on since the 1960s to determine what the proportion of 14

C in the atmosphere has been over the past fifty thousand years. The resulting data, in the form of a calibration curve, is now used to convert a given measurement of radiocarbon in a sample into an estimate of the sample's actual calendar age. In addition to this curve, other corrections must be made to account for different proportions of 14

C in different types of organism (fractionation) and different 14

C levels in different parts of the biosphere (reservoir effects).

Measurement of radiocarbon was originally done by beta-counting devices, so called because they counted the amount of beta radiation emitted by decaying 14

C atoms in a sample. More recently, accelerator mass spectrometry has become the method of choice; it can be used with much smaller samples (as small as individual plant seeds), and gives results much more quickly.

The development of radiocarbon dating has had a profound impact on archaeology. In addition to permitting more accurate dating within archaeological sites than did methods previously in use, it also allows comparison of dates of events across great distances. Histories of archaeology often refer to the early impact of the new method as the “radiocarbon revolution”. Occasionally, the method is used for items of popular interest such as the Shroud of Turin. which is claimed to show an image of the body of Jesus Christ. A sample of linen from the shroud was tested in 1988 and found to date from the 1200s or 1300s, casting doubt on its authenticity.

In the early 1930s Willard Libby was a chemistry student at the University of Berkeley. receiving his Ph. D. in 1933. He remained there as an instructor until the end of the decade. In 1939 the Radiation Laboratory at Berkeley began experiments to determine if any of the elements common in organic matter had isotopes with half-lives long enough to be of value in biomedical research. It was soon discovered that 14

C 's half-life was far longer than had been previously thought, and in 1940 this was followed by proof that the interaction of slow neutrons with 14

N was the main pathway by which 14

C was created. It had previously been thought 14

C would be more likely to be created by deuterons interacting with 13

C. At about this time Libby read a paper by W. E. Danforth and S. A. Korff, published in 1939, which predicted the creation of 14

C in the atmosphere by neutrons from cosmic rays which had been slowed down by collisions with molecules of atmospheric gas. It was this paper that first gave Libby the idea that radiocarbon dating might be possible. [ 1 ]

In 1945, Libby moved to the University of Chicago. He published a paper in 1946 in which he proposed that the carbon in living matter might include 14

C as well as non-radioactive carbon. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] Libby and several collaborators proceeded to experiment with methane collected from sewage works in Baltimore, and after isotopically enriching their samples they were able to demonstrate that they contained radioactive 14

C. By contrast, methane created from petroleum had no radiocarbon activity. The results were summarized in a paper in Science in 1947, and the authors commented that their results implied it would be possible to date materials containing carbon of organic origin. [ 2 ] [ 4 ]

Libby and James Arnold proceeded to experiment with samples of wood of known age. For example, two wood samples taken from the tombs of two Egyptian kings, Zoser and Sneferu. independently dated to 2625 BC plus or minus 75 years, were dated by radiocarbon measurement to an average of 2800 BC plus or minus 250 years. These results were published in Science in 1949. [ 5 ] [ 6 ] In 1960, Libby was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for this work. [ 2 ]

Physical and chemical details [ edit ]

In nature, carbon exists as two stable, nonradioactive isotopes. carbon-12 ( 12

C ), and a radioactive isotope, carbon-14 ( 14

C ), also known as "radiocarbon". The half-life of 14

C (the time it takes for half of a given amount of 14

C to decay ) is about 5,730 years, so its concentration in the atmosphere might be expected to reduce over thousands of years. However, 14

C is constantly being produced in the lower stratosphere and upper troposphere by cosmic rays. which generate neutrons that in turn create 14

C when they strike nitrogen-14 ( 14

N ) atoms. [ 2 ] The 14

C creation process is described by the following nuclear reaction :

C quickly combines with the oxygen in the atmosphere to form carbon dioxide ( CO

2 ). Carbon dioxide produced in this way diffuses in the atmosphere, is dissolved in the ocean, and is taken up by plants via photosynthesis. Animals eat the plants, and ultimately the radiocarbon is distributed throughout the biosphere. The ratio of 14

During its life, a plant or animal is exchanging carbon with its surroundings, so the carbon it contains will have the same proportion of 14

C as the biosphere and the carbon exchange reservoir. Once it dies, it ceases to acquire 14

C. but the 14

C within its biological material at that time will continue to decay, and so the ratio of 14

C to 12

C in its remains will gradually reduce. Because 14

C decays at a known rate, the proportion of radiocarbon can be used to determine how long it has been since a given sample stopped exchanging carbon—the older the sample, the less 14

C will be left. [ 8 ]

The equation governing the decay of a radioactive isotope is: [ 2 ]

The half-life of a radioactive isotope (the time it takes for half of the sample to decay, usually denoted by t 1/2 ) is a more familiar concept than the mean-life, so although the equations above are expressed in terms of the mean-life, it is more usual to quote the value of 14

C 's half-life than its mean-life. [ note 1 ] The currently accepted value for the half-life of 14

C is 5,730 years. [ 2 ] This means that after 5,730 years, only half of the initial 14

C will have remained; a quarter will have remained after 11,460 years; an eighth after 17,190 years; and so on.

The above calculations make several assumptions, such as that the level of 14

C in the biosphere has remained constant over time. [ 2 ] In fact, the level of 14

C in the biosphere has varied significantly and as a result the values provided by the equation above have to be corrected by using data from other sources in the form of a calibration curve, which is described in more detail below. [ 12 ] For over a decade after Libby's initial work, the accepted value of the half-life for 14

C was 5,568 years; this was improved in the early 1960s to 5,730 years, which meant that many calculated dates in published papers were now incorrect (the error is about 3%). However, it is possible to incorporate a correction for the half-life value into the calibration curve, and so it has become standard practice to quote measured radiocarbon dates in "radiocarbon years", meaning that the dates are calculated using Libby's half-life value and have not been calibrated. [ 13 ] [ note 2 ] This approach has the advantage of maintaining consistency with the early papers, and also avoids the risk of a double correction for the Libby half-life value. [ 15 ]

Carbon exchange reservoir [ edit ]

The different elements of the carbon exchange reservoir vary in how much carbon they store, and in how long it takes for the 14

C generated by cosmic rays to fully mix with them. [ 2 ] The atmosphere, which is where 14

C is generated, contains about 1.9% of the total carbon in the reservoirs, and the 14

C it contains mixes in less than seven years. [ 16 ] [ 17 ] The ratio of 14

C to 12

C in the atmosphere is taken as the baseline for the other reservoirs: if another reservoir has a lower ratio of 14

C to 12

C. it indicates that the carbon is older and hence that some of the 14

C has decayed. [ 12 ] The ocean surface is an example: it contains 2.4% of the carbon in the exchange reservoir, [ 16 ] but there is only about 95% as much 14

C as would be expected if the ratio were the same as in the atmosphere. [ 2 ] The time it takes for carbon from the atmosphere to mix with the surface ocean is only a few years, [ 18 ] but the surface waters also receive water from the deep ocean, which has over 90% of the carbon in the reservoir. [ 12 ] Water in the deep ocean takes about 1,000 years to circulate back through surface waters, and so the surface waters contain a combination of older water, with depleted 14

C. and water recently at the surface, with 14

C in equilibrium with the atmosphere. [ 12 ]

Creatures living at the ocean surface have the same 14

C ratios as the water they live in, and as a result of the reduced 14

C / 12

C ratio, the radiocarbon age of marine life is typically about 400 years. [ 19 ] [ note 4 ] Organisms on land, however, are in closer equilibrium with the atmosphere and have the same 14

C / 12

C ratio as the atmosphere. [ 2 ] These organisms contain about 1.3% of the carbon in the reservoir; sea organisms have a mass of less than 1% of those on land and are not shown on the diagram. [ 16 ] Accumulated dead organic matter, of both plants and animals, exceeds the mass of the biosphere by a factor of nearly 3, and since this matter is no longer exchanging carbon with its environment, it has a 14

C / 12

Dating considerations [ edit ]

The variation in the 14

C / 12

C ratio in different parts of the carbon exchange reservoir means that a straightforward calculation of the age of a sample based on the amount of 14

C it contains will often give an incorrect result. There are several other possible sources of error that need to be considered. The errors are of four general types:

variations in the 14

C / 12

C ratio in the atmosphere, both geographically and over time;

isotopic fractionation;

variations in the 14

C / 12

C ratio in different parts of the reservoir;

contamination.

Atmospheric variation [ edit ]

In the early years of using the technique, it was understood that it depended on the atmospheric 14

C / 12

C ratio having remained the same over the preceding few thousand years. To verify the accuracy of the method, several artefacts that were datable by other techniques were tested; the results of the testing were in reasonable agreement with the true ages of the objects. However, in 1958, Hessel de Vries was able to demonstrate that the 14

C / 12

C ratio had changed over time by testing wood samples of known ages and showing there was a significant deviation from the expected ratio. This discrepancy, often called the de Vries effect, was resolved by the study of tree rings. [ 20 ] [ 21 ] Comparison of overlapping series of tree rings allowed the construction of a continuous sequence of tree-ring data that spanned 8,000 years. [ 20 ] (Since that time the tree-ring data series has been extended to 13,900 years.) [ 22 ] Carbon-dating the wood from the tree rings themselves provided the check needed on the atmospheric 14

C / 12

C ratio: with a sample of known date, and a measurement of the value of N (the number of atoms of 14

C remaining in the sample), the carbon-dating equation allows the calculation of N 0 – the number of atoms of 14

C in the sample at the time the tree ring was formed – and hence the 14

C / 12

C ratio in the atmosphere at that time. [ 20 ] Armed with the results of carbon-dating the tree rings, it became possible to construct calibration curves designed to correct the errors caused by the variation over time in the 14

C / 12

C ratio. [ 23 ] These curves are described in more detail below .

Atmospheric 14

C. New Zealand [ 24 ] and Austria. [ 25 ] The New Zealand curve is representative of the Southern Hemisphere; the Austrian curve is representative of the Northern Hemisphere. Atmospheric nuclear weapon tests almost doubled the concentration of 14

C in the Northern Hemisphere. [ 9 ] The date that the Partial Test Ban Treaty (PTBT) went into effect is marked on the graph.

Coal and oil began to be burned in large quantities during the 1800s. Both coal and oil are sufficiently old that they contain little detectable 14

C and, as a result, the CO

2 released substantially diluted the atmospheric 14

C / 12

C ratio. Dating an object from the early 20th century hence gives an apparent date older than the true date. For the same reason, 14

C concentrations in the neighbourhood of large cities are lower than the atmospheric average. This fossil fuel effect (also known as the Suess effect, after Hans Suess. who first reported it in 1955) would only amount to a reduction of 0.2% in 14

C activity if the additional carbon from fossil fuels were distributed throughout the carbon exchange reservoir, but because of the long delay in mixing with the deep ocean, the actual effect is a 3% reduction. [ 20 ] [ 26 ]

A much larger effect comes from above-ground nuclear testing, which released large numbers of neutrons and created 14

C. From about 1950 until 1963, when atmospheric nuclear testing was banned, it is estimated that several tonnes of 14

C were created. If all this extra 14

C had immediately been spread across the entire carbon exchange reservoir, it would have led to an increase in the 14

C / 12

C ratio of only a few per cent, but the immediate effect was to almost double the amount of 14

C in the atmosphere, with the peak level occurring in about 1965. The level has since dropped, as the "bomb carbon" (as it is sometimes called) percolates into the rest of the reservoir. [ 20 ] [ 26 ] [ 27 ]

Isotopic fractionation [ edit ]

Photosynthesis is the primary process by which carbon moves from the atmosphere into living things. In both photosynthetic pathways (C3 and C4 ) 12

C is absorbed slightly more easily than 13

C. which in turn is more easily absorbed than 14

C ratios in plants that differ from the ratios in the atmosphere. This effect is known as isotopic fractionation. [ 28 ] [ 29 ]

To determine the degree of fractionation that takes place in a given plant, the amounts of both 12

C and 13

C isotopes are measured, and the resulting 13

C / 12

C ratio is then compared to a standard ratio known as PDB. [ note 5 ] The 13

C / 12

C ratio is used instead of 14

C / 12

C because the former is much easier to measure, and the latter can be easily derived: the depletion of 13

C relative to 12

C is proportional to the difference in the atomic masses of the two isotopes, so the depletion for 14

C is twice the depletion of 13

C. [ 12 ] The fractionation of 13

C. known as ? 13 C. is calculated as follows: [ 28 ]

where the ‰ sign indicates parts per thousand. [ 28 ] Because the PDB standard contains an unusually high proportion of 13

C. [ note 6 ] most measured ? 13 C values are negative.

El término “Cámara lenta” o “Slow motion” como se utiliza en inglés, se refiere a la reproducción de una secuencia de cine o video que no corresponde a la velocidad real en la que fue registrada, sino que corre mucho más lento y permite apreciar con más detenimiento la acción de la escena.

Esta técnica de reproducción se utiliza comúnmente en las transmisiones deportivas para analizar las características de la jugada o también en secuencias narrativas donde se busca aumentar el dramatismo de alguna acción específica.

Lo que a muchas personas les cuesta trabajo comprender es, que para lograr una buena cámara lenta (libre de barrido ), es necesario grabar la secuencia a la mayor velocidad posible. La reproducción de la secuencia en realidad es normal, es decir, una vez procesada la imagen, se reproduce a la misma velocidad que una escena que transcurre naturalmente, pero se ve más lento porque durante la grabación su registro se realizó mucho más rápido.

Para comprender esto más fácil primero empezaremos por entender que la velocidad del video se mide en cuadros por segundo (fps) y dependiendo del estándar que se esté utilizando, esta velocidad puede variar entre 29.97 fps y hasta 50 fps en el caso de algunos sistemas de alta definición .

Por ejemplo:

En una cámara que tiene la capacidad de grabar a 2,400 cuadros por segundo, la reproducción a 30 fps representará solamente el 1.25% de su velocidad normal y en una cámara grabando a 4,740 cuadros por segundo bajo el mismo parámetro de reproducción utilizado anteriormente, se verá al 0.63% de la velocidad en la que realmente ocurrieron las cosas en la escena.

El secreto de las cámaras de alta velocidad, es la alta sensibilidad que tienen sus foto sensores para capturar la luz en mucho menor tiempo de lo que lo hacen los dispositivos normales y aproximadamente una década atrás, esta híper sensibilidad implicaba un sacrificio en la definición de la imagen pero actualmente, modelos como la MEMRECAM HX-1. poseen la capacidad de capturar 2,000 cuadros por segundo a la asombrosa resolución de 2560 X 1920 pixeles (casi dos veces y medio el formato HD). Este mismo modelo, en un formato reducido a 320 X 24 pixeles, puede registrar 740,660 fps.

El mundo en cámara lenta presenta imágenes de inigualable belleza y dramatismo que por si mismas, nos demuestran lo poderosas y útiles que son las cámaras de alta velocidad para la apreciación y especialmente para la ciencia. Recordemos que fue apenas en 1873 cuando el británico Eadweard Muybridge bajo iniciativa de Leland Stanford (presidente de la Central Pacific Railway en EEUU), utilizando diferentes técnicas y arreglos de cámaras, realizó el célebre estudio de movimiento de un caballo a galope donde pudo observarse que el animal, durante un brevísimo intervalo, llega a tener las cuatro patas en el aire durante la carrera.

Que tu computadora o PC sean lentos puede ser debido a causas muy diversas. Al tener diferentes dispositivos trabajando cualquier era de ellos puede ralentizar todo el sistema. El problema se complica aún más si tienes en cuenta que un PC no es sólo su parte física.

En este artículo te detallo los problemas más comunes junto con sus soluciones.

Falta de RAM

La RAM es la memoria en la que se almacenan los programas cuando estas trabajando con ellos. Si esta no es suficiente, el sistema operativo necesitara recurrir a el disco duro para simular tener más. Esta es la que se conoce como memoria virtual. Al ser el disco mucho más lento que la RAM puedes notar caídas de rendimiento. Cada nueva versión de tus utilidades, por desgracia, suele necesitar de una mayor cantidad de memoria para funcionar que la anterior con lo cual el riesgo de que esto ocurra aumenta.

Si tu equipo lee mucho del disco duro y sufre de bloqueos momentáneos en los cuales parece quedarse atontado no lo dudes y gástate algo de dinero en RAM. Comprueba siempre antes que tienes slots libres y que tipo de memoria soportan tanto el procesador como la placa base. Esto puede hacer que un PC lento vuelva a funcionar de manera fluida.

Velocidad del disco duro

Uno de los mayores avances que estamos viendo en la actualidad tiene que ver con los discos duros SSDs. Estos realizan las mismas funciones que uno convencional pero tienen muchas ventajas:

Velocidad. Son más rápidos, sobre tres veces más que uno convencional.

Durabilidad. No tienen partes móviles con lo cual pueden resistir mejor los golpes.

Silenciosos. Son menos ruidosos debido a que no utilizan elementos mecánicos.

Consumo. Necesitan menos energía para funcionar que uno normal.

Si instalas uno de estos todo el rendimiento de tu equipo te lo agradecerá. En su contra esta el alto precio que pueden llegar alcanzar. Si buscas grandes rendimientos de disco puedes pensar en crear configuraciones con varios discos duros, en RAID. y así lograr mas velocidad y una mayor protección ante fallos.

Notaras mejoras radicales sobre todo si realizas mucho trabajo con grandes ficheros como puedes tener si editas video.

Muchos programas en el inicio

Algunos programas tienen la fea costumbre de utilizar funciones innecesarias. Una de las más comunes es instalar programas al inicio que se quedan residentes en memoria. Ahí se encargan de comprobar si la utilidad necesita actualizarse y algunos aceleran en teoría la carga de sus propios programas.

Por desgracia, la mayoría tienen poca utilidad práctica, pero es muy recomendable tener los menos posibles.

Si tu equipo siempre ha ido bien y cada día parece que es más lento esta podría ser una de sus causas. Así que aprende a quitar los programas del inicio:

Desinstala programas que no uses

Es una buena costumbre comprobar de vez en cuando los programas que tienes instalados. Aunque muchos programas sólo ocuparan espacio en tu disco duro y no reducirán la velocidad de tu sistema, desinstalar aquellos que no uses puede ayudarte a mejorar el rendimiento.

Virus

Los antivirus son necesarios. Sin embargo eso no significa que no puedas acabar infectado. En caso de no poder con un virus prueba lo siguiente:

Los virus se cargan al inicio del sistema para poder ocultarse de los antivirus. Si usas un CD con un sistema operativo propio el cual sea capaz de hacer funcionar un antivirus estos no podrán ocultarse.

Drivers desactualizados

Los drivers son creados por los fabricantes de los dispositivos para que estos puedan comunicarse con el sistema operativo. Cada nueva versión de estos programas soluciona problemas algunas veces relacionados con el rendimiento. Los drivers no se actualizan de manera automática. Así que debes de hacerlo de manera periódica.
